Wang Zhiyuan (b.1990, Zhangjiakou, China) is a young abstract artist whose painting is developing both “inward” and “outward.” The main focus of his work is about how he as participant and artist interacts with the painting experience physically and intellectually, and what is the respond to the constantly changing image. Painting itself is the inspiration, reference and content of his work.
Zhiyuan’s recent exhibitions and residencies include OCT Boxes Art Museum residency, “I have nothing to say and I am saying it”, OCT Boxes Art Museum, Guangdong, China in 2019; Lucid Art Foundation Residency, Inverness, CA in 2016.
Zhiyuan received his BFA from China Academy of Art in Hangzhou in 2013 and MFA from San Francisco Art Institute in 2015.
The artist currently live and works in Beijing.
